Does anybody else do this? I can’t believe I am the only one who thought of it, because it is incredibly good and so easy.
Oasis Hommus is about the best store bought hommus I can find around here. One day, I was making some pasta and being totally sick of red sauce I thought, hey, I just got that hommus and if I cut it with a lot of olive oil that might make a good sauce.
You know what? I was so right. It makes a great sauce and with so much protein as well, and it takes about a minute to make. Put some hommus in a bowl, add any kind of olive oil and mix well until you get a saucy consistency, pour over pasta.
I have also saut
I’d never thought to use it on pasta, but I’ve used oil-thinned hummus as a salad dressing before, and that’s always tasty.
I’ve never done that before. It sounds great!
That’s a very common thing. There’s a lot of recipes out there that call for Hummus with pasta. I have an awesome one if your interested.
I’ve never done the sauce thing, but when I used to eat dairy I love love loved mixing half salsa/half sour cream and eating it on tostitos, and I really missed that since going vegs. A couple of months ago, though, in a similar stroke of brilliance I poured some salsa over hummus and ate it with tortilla chips, and it was soooooo good. The hummus flavor (I used garlic flavored Cedars) cuddled up with the salsa so nicely, and the texture it added was great. Plus, salsa is pretty good for you, so the only added fat will come from the chips. yum.
I haven’t used it as a sauce for pasta, but I’ve used instant hummus as a thickener for sauces before. It works great for stir fry!
