Here’s a fantastic, completely vegan spinach dip. I insist you serve it at your next party for your non-vegan, non-vegetarian friends and watch them chow it like its totally decadent.
I use the recipe on the back of the Knorr Vegetable Soup, Dip and Recipe Mix, and with a few very careful substitutions it becomes totally vegan and I think more delicious.
You decide if you want to tell them its vegan or not.

Knorr Recipe/Vegan Substitutions
*Knorr Recipe – 1 container sour cream | Vegan Substitution – 1 container Tofuti Sour Supreme. (Amazing!)
*Knorr Recipe – 1 cup mayonnaise | Vegan Substitution – 1 cup soft tofu crumbled with fork
3 green onions, chopped
1 pkg. Knorr Vegetable Soup, Dip & Recipe Mix
*Knorr Recipe – 1 pkg. frozen spinach, thawed and drained.
I use 1 bag of of fresh spinach. Chop it and steam till soft.
*Knorr Recipe – 1 can 8oz. water chestnuts drained and chopped
These are optional. I don’t like canned water chestnuts, but go ahead if you do.
1.) In medium bowl stir spinach, Tofuti Sour Supreme, soft tofu,
Knorr Vegetable Soup Dip and Recipe Mix, green onions, (water chestnuts – if you want them) until well mixed.
2.) Cover; chill 2 hours to blend flavors and soften soup ingredients.
3.) Stir well. Serve with cut up vegetables, baked pita chips, anything.
Dam I hate that… companies that makes products look animal-free (or just dairy-free) and it turns out they’re tricking (or trying to trick) people.
I would never buy anything from that company as I don’t like manufacturers who trick or try to trick people.
They should respect their customers.
Why don’t you like canned water chestnuts???…How else
can you buy them??
I don’t know why, I just don’t like them. I assume there is another way to eat them, I don’t think they grow on trees in cans, but I have never had them any other way.
This was absolutely delicious! Both vegans and non vegans devoured it immediately. The batch this recipe made looked huge, but it was so yummy I didn’t get to take any home as leftovers!
This product does contain Lactose!!!!!! My friend made it and was super proud of making a spinach dip vegan – this was not the case. Not having dairy for years, my body was very able to tell the difference….. I’ve been sick overnight and into the morning with dairy related symptoms… Please don’t let them fool you!
Andrea, shoot, sorry if you got sick. You may be right that their soup mix does contain trace amounts of dairy. Thanks for the heads up.
Are you sure? Maybe they added it since 2006?
Knorr vegetable soup mix does contain lactose…but Lipton does not! As far as I can tell lipton’s is vegan :)
I think the latest Lipton ingredients list includes “chicken fat” :-(
The Knotr vegetable soup mix states that it may contain milk.
Lipton contains chicken fat and states it may contain dairy. Lipton isn’t even vegetarian friendly.
